April 25, 2025: Rain, Respect, and Some Muddy Horse Mama Moments

The weekend rains had me hiding like the Wicked Witch (melting, ha!) 🧹🌧️—so Bee had more stall time and fewer visits from me. But Monday? Sunshine and saddle-ups! ☀️🐎 Bee played hard to get at first, but after some lunging in the round pen, she came to me—a big sign of respect. 💛

We rode in the arena, working on perfect circles in every corner, using reins, legs, and voice. Afterward, we did a walkabout around the property—she was a little sketchy but listened with some firm reminders. Progress! 🐝

🐢 Slow Feeder Update:
Since Bee’s been stuck inside more with all this rain, we added a slow feeder net to her stall. She’s already a super slow eater, but this net helps stretch her meals even longer. It’s basically a tightly woven hay net that makes her work a bit more for each bite, mimicking how horses naturally graze all day in the wild. 🌾 This keeps her busy, prevents boredom (no stall pacing!), and helps her digestion stay on track. Plus, slow feeding helps reduce colic risks and keeps her from scarfing hay out of boredom when she’s inside more than usual. 🐴🕰️

Wednesday’s rain flooded her paddock, so I got muddy trenching it out. She still needed to be there after pasture time, and hey, she didn’t seem to mind too much. Giving her hormone shot? Easy peasy now. 💉✨

Not-so-sweet Bee moment? She pinned her ears and threw some legs at the mucker Wednesday morning… apparently, someone was hangry before breakfast. 😅 No one hurt, just her usual drama.
